Haringey: Local GP leader issues health warning

Letter to the editor: Local GP leader issues health warning

Dear Editor

Your readers may have read or heard about the new 'myhealthlondon' website, which gives the public the opportunity to find out more about local health services, including outcome standards data for GP practices in their area.

On the whole practices welcome constructive feedback on how they can, over time, continuously improve their services to meet patients' realistic expectations. It is really important that the outcomes are seen in that context and that people pay attention to the helpful accompanying online guide notes.

Myhealthlondon is not intended as a tripadvisor for general practice, and should not be used as such. The overwhelming majority of London's busy practices are doing a great job under difficult circumstances in managing very complex patient conditions, with reduced resources and increased expectations As well as providing good healthcare, general practice is all about relationships, and it is this that most people in London value, and what we GPs strive to deliver.

Yours

Dr Martin Lindsay

Chair of Haringey Local Medical Committee
