Salaried / Sessional GPs
Londonwide LMCs, following its commissioned report on diversity undertaken by Dr Judy Gilley, established a diversity strategy, and are fully committed to representing and supporting all GPs and their practice staff. One of our priorities is to improve engagement with our sessional GP colleagues. This includes reviewing representation and increasing membership on Local Medical Committees, as well as promoting the highest standards of peer support, terms and conditions of employment, education and career development.
Building on work that has already taken place in some LMC areas, we will regularly seek the views of salaried and sessional GPs. This will provide us with important baseline information. To demonstrate change and improvement we will be repeating surveys and collecting information at regular intervals.
In July 2010, look out for a feature on the results of our most recent survey via this website and in our regular LMC newsletters.
The LMC is here to support all salaried/sessional GPs.
Salaried/sessional GPs include:
- Salaried employees (including full or part time GPs and GP Registrars)
- Locum GPs
- GP Retainers
- Flexible Careers Scheme (FCS) doctors
- GP Returners
Salaried/sessional GPs must remember that it is their responsibility under the Performers List regulations to:
- Inform their PCT of any change of address
- Ensure that their name is included on the Performers List of a PCT within England
