Redbridge and Waltham Forest LMCs join forces with Londonwide LMCs
Redbridge and Waltham Forest LMCs join forces with Londonwide LMCs.
April 1 2009: Today Redbridge and Waltham Forest LMCs will officially join Londonwide LMCs, the professional voice of London general practice. This arrangement will provide Redbridge and Waltham Forest GPs and practice teams with access to Londonwide LMCs extensive list of services such as their dedicated GP support team, a communications and public relations directorate and committee support.
Dr Tony Grewal, Medical Director, Londonwide LMCs, says: “We are looking forward to working with both Redbridge and Waltham Forest LMCs. We hope to work with them to guide their GPs and practice teams through an increasingly complex and competitive general practice environment and to provide any support they need along the way."
Dr Ambrish Shah, Chair of Redbridge LMC, says: "Redbridge LMC has been an effective voice of Redbridge GPs for over 40 yrs. In recent years, however, General Practice has gone through momentous changes and we now work in an increasingly difficult medico-political environment. As the General Practice agenda continues to evolve, it is more important than ever before that Redbridge GPs continue to have robust representation of their interests. It is with these concerns in mind that the LMC recommended a merger with Londonwide LMCs. I feel confident that this merger will provide a more effective platform for us to have our voice heard and meet the challenges that lie ahead."
Dr Terry John, Chair of Waltham Forest LMC, says: “Waltham Forest LMC has worked hard to support its constituents for many years. However, in an increasingly challenging environment the LMC felt that it was the right time to join with Londonwide LMCs to ensure that we continue to meet the diverse needs of our GPs and practice teams. Londonwide LMCs will help us to communicate complex government directives to practices, and support and advise our LMC members so that they are provided with the tools they need to guide constituents. The Londonwide LMCs team will support us to communicate faster than our present capacity allows.”
