London’s GP leaders launch new services to support the Capital’s GPs
Londonwide LMCs has today launched a new subsidiary organisation providing a range of services for the capital’s GPs and practices. Londonwide Enterprise Ltd (LEL) will offer business and tailored performance/contractual support plus a wide ranging development programme for practice teams.
The new organisation has been created in response to increased demand for practical support in helping practices to tender for new services, help with developing practice business plans and requests by GPs for intensive performance and contractual support.
Londonwide LMCs' Board of Directors approved the new organisation earlier this year with a clear mandate that it should be run along the lines of a social enterprise, where the community benefit outweighs the desire to make a commercial profit. Whilst the organisation needs to cover its costs, the emphasis will be on delivering high quality services and value for money.
Dr Michelle Drage, Joint Chief Executive of Londonwide LMCs and Londonwide Enterprise said, “Londonwide Enterprise is, we believe, the first of its kind for GPs and practices. Whilst there are many business consultancy companies in the market place, we believe that our experience and extensive knowledge of the specific needs of GPs and practices makes us unique. As GPs face unprecedented pressure to become business savvy and excellent leaders as well as clinicians, we felt it was time to offer them access to more specialised support to help them secure their futures”.
Adding: “GPs and practice teams across London deserve to do more than survive, they need to flourish. For the sake of their patients and the wider profession, anything less simply won’t do”.
Dr Tony Stanton, Joint Chief Executive of Londonwide LMCs and Londonwide Enterprise commented, “Londonwide LMCs has, for years, been advising practices that simply being a good clinician is, sadly, no longer enough. Today we are reinforcing that message with an assurance that at Londonwide LMCs and Londonwide Enterprise we will do everything we can to help them preserve all that is good in general practice. Every practice we represent is our priority.”
Notes to editor:
- Specialist advice on legal, accountancy and other key matters will be available from a number of carefully selected expert providers at preferential rates
