LMC elections 2018 - nominations now open

This year is election year at Londonwide LMCs and it's never been as important to make your voice heard and stand up for general practice in London.

This year is the first time that all the seats on the LMC will be up for election simultaneously and this provides a great opportunity to add new talent to the committee. Nominations are sought from every GP working in one of the 27 London boroughs we represent, whether partner, employed, locum, new entrant or trainee GP, irrespective of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partnership, status, class, pregnancy, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Nomination packs were sent out on 30 April 2018 and the deadline for nominations is 5.00pm on Friday 1 June 2018

Please consider standing for election and visit our dedicated election website at www.ersvotes.com/londonwidelmcs to complete your nomination form. The website also includes information on roles and responsibilities for LMC members and a helpful 'frequently asked questions' document. Further information on the elections is available by contacting our elections team at lmcelections@lmc.org.uk

We are also running a networking event for you to attend if you would like to find out more about LMCs and the election process. The event will be held on Tuesday 22 May 2018 at Londonwide LMCs' offices near to Euston station. Please contact Marie Vassallo at the LMC at marie.vassallo@lmc.org.uk

LMC membership means you represent local GPs to NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Hospital Trusts, Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships, the London Mayor’s Office, local government and MPs.

Being on your LMC is a great way to develop your own leadership and management skills while building up your understanding of how primary care works in London. Membership can equip you for Chair, Vice Chair or other clinical leadership roles. LMC members also have the opportunity to undertake formal training in areas such as leadership, facilitating discussions, negotiations, and media relations.

If you would like to stand for election please complete the online nomination form which is available to download from www.ersvotes.com/londonwidelmcs providing the names and email addresses of two supporting GPs in your constituency. You also have the opportunity to include a photo of yourself which will be included with your election statement.

Nomination forms must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 1 June 2018.

Remember that if you would like to find out more about being an LMC member, you are welcome to attend our drop-in networking event on Tuesday 22 May 2018, from 2pm-6pm at the Londonwide LMCs’ office, Tavistock House South, Tavistock Square, WC1H 9LG. Please RSVP to marie.vassallo@lmc.org.uk.
