Londonwide LMCs brings together 27 borough LMCs under one umbrella.
Local Medical Committees are the independent voice of all GPs, practice team members and their primary care networks in each area, with a role set out in statute.
In addition to providing services to support GPs and practices, we negotiate local services with commissioners, represent general practice (including PCNs), to hospital trusts, other NHS bodies, local authorities and anyone else in their area with whom practices have a professional relationship.
The director of primary care will play a key role in forming our organisational strategy to value, care for and protect general practice in London.
The successful candidate will understand integrated care system strategy and the implications for providers and services. They will have experience of working across organisational boundaries within the health and care system and embedding relationships with stakeholders, with demonstrable positive impact. They will be familiar with the recent Fuller Review and well placed to support general practice’s response.
They will understand the challenges, opportunities and threats facing GP practices and be able to assess implications of new evolving NHS structures, policies, procedures and contractual frameworks on the stability and sustainability of general practice.
The candidate will understand the operational needs of practices and PCNs and be able to effectively represent practices alongside medical director colleagues, for example in local service contract negotiation and funding allocation discussions.
Above all, the successful candidate will be passionate about the stability and sustainability of general practice across London and driven to ensure that service development protects and maximises the value that GPs and their practice team offer their patients and local communities.
