Practice Nurse
Clinical lead, Registered Manager and Practice Manager
The Practice Nurse will work to provide high quality nursing care to patients. They will also need to maintain a smooth running of the GP surgery, alongside a team of GPs and HCAs .

job responsibilities:


• To provide excellent patient care
• To process all forms of prescription
• Involvement in QOF planning and templates
• to action and follow up any referrals
• Dealing with clinical admin tasks
• Encourage patients to make healthy changes, such as eating balanced meals and exercising more.
• To provide information on relevant services available in the local community to help make better choices and change their behaviour.
• Support the nursing team with basic Health Care Assistant roles
• Use the CCG guidelines and protocols to implement various services
• Stock control on vaccinations
• To work with the medical team and practice manager to provide a suitable plan for patients with chronic diseases.
• Take an active role in clinical governance.
• Monitoring and managing cervical cytology results
• Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.

Clinical duties will be subject to presentation of original and updated training

• To complete wound care, which involves dressing, providing detailed advice and reviewing the wound at a later date.
• To identify patients who are due for NHS health checks, and invite them in for their checks To manager and review long term health conditions- Asthma, COPD, CHD, Diabetes, Hypertension
• In addition to the above, other physiological measurements and recordings would be needed, such as:
1. Peak flow readings
2. COPD/Spirometry
3. Blood pressure
4. Foot health check
• Phlebotomy procedure
• To provide routine Immunisation such as influenza, B12
• To provide Child immunisations
• To complete Smear tests
• To promote healthy living by planning and implementing achievable activities to help with things like exercising, healthy eating, quit smoking etc.
• To work only in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and within the Scope of professional practice
Person specification

• Good level of education-essential
• Registered General Nurse (RGN)-essential
• Current member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) -essential
• Diploma in Practice Nursing-desirable

• Working in some form of healthcare or equivalent level of experience-desirable

• To be able to understand and navigate through basic computer skills
• Good organisation skills
• Good communication skills to process incoming information and then convey this to the correct members of the team and other services
• To be able to work independently and in a team
• To show empathy and be patient towards individuals with different needs
• To provide a high quality of care at all times
• To display a positive attitude and remain calm when dealing with difficult situations.
• To easily adapt to different environmental; factors
• To complete tasks within a given time frame.

Salary: £20-£25ph depending on experience
