Workforce survey results

Thank you for supporting our July workforce survey. We had a great response from 408 people working across 322 GP practices and are now able to share some of the data.

Blood specimen collection tube shortage

A shortage of vacutainers for taking blood samples in some areas of London means practices are being asked to use fewer of them.

CCG claw back success

LMCs in North Central London have been successful in reversing the CCG’s decision to reclaim funding for PCN staff working in vaccination sites.

Value. Care. Protect.

Our latest video explains how GPs and practice staff are under pressure and asks patients to be considerate when talking to practice team members.

Supporting GPs’ mental health

With so much pressure on frontline staff, especially mental health, we would like to remind you about our GP Professional Support Network.

Anti-abuse campaign

Our ongoing work to discourage abuse of practice staff is taking place alongside a number of other organisations, we round-up who is doing what.

Remember to use BEAM to LMC to highlight the pressure you are under

Our BEAM to LMC mobile app, which enables you to tell us about the pressures you are under from commissioners and others, is proving popular. Make sure you check the app for push notifications.

Media and public affairs round-up

On 11 August, Dr Tina Agrawal of Camden LMC was quoted in Pulse speaking about ARRS funding in North Central London. On 28 July, Dr Michelle Drage, our CEO, was quoted in Pulse Intelligence speaking about Covid related pressures on practice finances . We have also briefed the Independent, HSJ, GPOnline and Pulse on issues affecting London GPs, including this winter’s vaccination campaigns.

We will be marking World Alzheimer’s Day and World Patient Safety Day in September and Breast Cancer Awareness Month and World Mental Health Day in October. Please contact the comms team if you have any local stories or information related to these awareness days/ months.

We continue to be very active in promoting the interests of London GPs and practice staff on TwitterFacebook and LinkedIn. If you have an example of general practice doing something well which could make a news story please get in touch. We also support practices that are approached with media requests. You can find details here.
