Nurses and healthcare providers

The in-statute remit of the LMC is to represent NHS GPs. However, Londonwide LMCs actively works with general practice nurses (GPNs) on developmental and educational initiatives. We also encourage GPN representatives to attend LMCs as observers, and you can find out more about this opportunity by talking to a member of staff at Londonwide LMCs.

GPNs are a vital part of any practice team and will play an increasingly central role in general practice provision in the Capital. We have spent years developing training and support for this critically important element of the practice team.

Our Learning Education and Development (LEAD) programme runs a number of dedicated GPN events and workshops, both clinical and non-clinical. In addition, we have put in place a robust online training programme, where a high proportion of students have subsequently found employment in general practice.

Our GP Support team are on hand to signpost appropriate paths to deal with practice issues and the communications and marketing team are on hand to advise on any media issues. All GPNs also receive our regular e-communications.
