London General Practice Awards winners in their own words

Some of our winners talk about their work and how they enjoyed the event.

Dr Oge Ilozue, Chair of Barnet LMC and winner of the LMC member for North Central London Award said:

“I find the London General Practice Awards very affirming. They have been a great reminder that the work we do, which can feel endless at times, is recognised, seen, and valued – and that it truly is of value. It’s not about seeking external validation, but it’s lovely to know that people have looked at what we do and think, ‘This is something valuable you’re adding to your community.’ It’s a real encouragement to keep putting in the hard work.”

Barbara Botsford, nurse at Rutland House Surgery and commended in the London General Practice Nursing Team Award category said:

“When I was first told I’d received an award, I was genuinely shocked. I’m proud to be a nurse and part of a family that has always served the community. Our practice isn’t just a surgery—it’s a family, and our patients are part of it. For me, the award isn’t about recognition—it’s about amplifying the message that housebound patients must not be forgotten. Community care matters, and we must invest in it.”
