GPC England ballot votes to reject imposed contract
Turnout was 55% of eligible GPs and GP registrars, with 98.9% of votes cast being against the imposed contract changes. GPC England has called on the Government to re-open negotiations in response to the result.

Meningitis B resources following Kent outbreak
We have collated practice and patient-facing guidance from NHS England London’s immunisation team, NHS England, UKHSA, the BMA and other sources. There are reports of increased numbers of patients contacting practices with concerns about meningitis and queries about their own vaccination status.

Positive changes to housing letters in South London
Our work with ICBs and local authorities has created common resources that explain to patients they do not need GP letters in support of housing applications.
This represents a win for general practice, who can expect to receive fewer letter requests, and for patients who can progress applications quickly by accessing their own records online.

Spotlight: Oge Ilozue – LMC Member Award winner
To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, we shared Dr Oge Ilozue’s reflections on her win at the 2026 London General Practice Awards. Dr Ilozue is Joint-Chair of Barnet LMC and was recognised with the North Central London member award. Her thoughts included:

Public satisfaction with the NHS rises slightly
The 2025 Nuffield Trust and The King’s Fund study finds 26% of Britons are very or quite satisfied with the NHS, up from 21% in 2024 and the first time the figure has risen since 2019. Satisfaction with GP services remains unchanged, with greater age correlating to a more positive view. Ease of getting a GP appointment has been in the public’s top three priorities for the last five years the survey has run.
