This has been jointly initiated by our newly appointed CEO, Dr Lisa Harrod-Rothwell and new Deputy CEO, Dr Elliott Singer, with the support of the Londonwide LMCs board.
The stocktake’s purpose is to ensure we are prepared for the next phase of the organisation’s evolution, including giving consideration to the potential impact of the forthcoming changes to the NHS which have recently been announced by Government.

Darker shaded parts of each ICS area are represented by Londonwide LMCs, the lighter ones by neighbouring LMCs.
This is an opportunity to influence the work of Londonwide LMCs and the services that you wish to receive. To register your early interest in this work, or provide any initial feedback on our services please contact kate.hudson@lmc.org.uk.
The stocktake aims to make sure that we are:
- Delivering services to our members and our constituent practices in the most efficient and effective way.
- Demonstrating the greatest potential value for constituent levy paying practices.
- Meeting the current and future needs of practices and members.
- Exploring new and innovative ways to support practices both now and into the future.
- Flexible, to be able to adapt and excel within context of a changing external health system.
As part of the stocktake we will be working with our staff, our Board, our LMC members and our GPs across all 27 boroughs we represent. We want to obtain considerable feedback upon our current work and also to explore the potential future needs and aspirations of our LMCs and practices.
We will focus initially upon some key considerations in relation to:
- the role and function of Londonwide LMCs vs individual LMCs’ role and function,
- the levy funded service offers available to practices and where these have potential to be expanded, and
- exploration of new services/offers for general practice including an updated and expanded Buying Group.
We plan to engage with members and practices in a variety of ways throughout the stocktake to obtain input and views, test out new ideas and share information on our progress. This will include a selection of surveys, focus groups, facilitated sessions and opportunity for individual discussions.
