Part 2: Thursday 11 December 2025 – 9:30am – 1:30pm
Interactive virtual taught day via the Zoom platform
This course is specifically designed for those working in General Practice who have responsibility for the administration of the NHS Pension Scheme. Even where a practice chooses to outsource payroll, they still retain full accountability for the correct implementation of all aspects of the pension scheme and should therefore be able to check that correct procedures have been followed.
- The legislative requirements are constantly being updated, and practices need to be fully aware of current rules and also ensure they remain up to date with all future changes.
- The new NHS Pension Employers’ Charter makes very clear that practices must ensure their employees are kept informed about changes and given relevant information at key points in their membership journey.
- The primary objective of this course is to ensure that practices are able to effectively and accurately administer the NHS Pension Scheme and are able to stay up to date with mandatory changes in order to ensure their staff receive the appropriate benefits.
- Delegates will leave with a clear understanding of the essential elements of administration of the NHS Pension Scheme, including commonly occurring member scenarios such as opting out and retirement. Where a practice is using an outsource provider – they will be able to conduct random checks to ensure full compliance with scheme regulations.,
New requirement covered – recently, the government stipulated that all NHS employers must review their historic administration of part-time hours, going back to 1 April 2015, and periods of reduced pay, going back to 1 October 2022. As part of this programme, delegates will receive guidance and tools to assist in carrying out those retrospective checks.
This is an interactive course, and participants should be prepared to contribute to discussions, participate in group exercises, and carry out some simple pension reviews between the two sessions. For this reason, we also ask you to commit to attending both sessions. Please note that your details will be shared with the trainer, LifeStyle Options.
Bonus⭐: Attendees of this course will have the option to attend our ‘NHS Pension – End of Year Processing’ session at a preferential rate if signing up for both courses at the same time (see below). This session will run on: Thursday 7 May 2026.
