Dear colleague,
Chair’s introduction
We are pleased to present our latest newsletter, which highlights the recent work and collaborative efforts between Brent LMC, Londonwide LMCs and other local stakeholders. Please do make yourselves familiar with your local representatives which can be found here:
Surviving the 2026-27 GP contract – webinar recording
A recording of the first run of Londonwide LMCs’ webinar is now available on the 2026-27 GP contract guidance page for those people who were unable to attend either session.
You can find out about the effect on London of the contract changes, with our unique patient population and commissioning arrangements, based on the documentation available at the end of April.
What has Brent LMC been working on recently?
Community Services – Change in contract
The LMC have been busy reviewing the new specifications for Community Services and providing feedback to the ICB. It will continue to push for the commissioning gaps to be closed, which these new specifications may create.
The committee have been informed that the community District Nursing team have currently been recruiting, which we hope will help with some of the issues GPs are facing, but please do let us know if you do not see any improvements.
Primary/Secondary Care Interface
Radiology Improvement Forum – There have been several examples raised with the committee regarding the issues GPs are facing with Radiology. These are being raised in the forum and outside of meetings. If you face challenges please do share these with amy.honor@lmc.org.uk so they can be raised and addressed.

Safeguarding concerns
The committee have recently written to the Safeguarding leads in Brent to express its concerns over recent Safeguarding experiences. These relate to rejected referrals as well as not sharing information that is required. We have asked what the “thresholds are for referrals” are as this is one reason we have been given for the rejections. We will share the outcomes from this with you once we have received a response.
Notifying CQC of allegations of Abuse (safeguarding)
Brent LMC have been made aware of some confusions over Regulation 18 of CQC and the requirement to notify CQC of allegations of Abuse. The CQC need to be notified if the alleged abuse occurred whilst services are being provided in carrying out regulated activities or a consequence of carrying on of a regulated activity. For example if the alleged abuse was committed by a member of staff at the practice whilst carrying out regulated activities CQC must be notified. Further guidance on reporting can be found here. If the suspected or alleged abuse did not occur whilst regulated activity was being provided or was not a result of the regulated activity then local processes and procedures should be followed in line with safeguarding adults and children and young people.
2026-2027 Contract Changes
Londonwide LMCs has produced a summary of the 2026/2027 contract changes which can be found here. It has also updated it GP Survival Guide which is a useful resource to help manage your workload and avoid unsafe situations for both practitioners and patients. The guide can be found here.
West and North London ICB Merger
As of the 1 April 2026 the NWL and NCL ICBs formally merged to form the West North London (WNL) ICB. The new ICB will cover 13 London Boroughs, with a population about the same as New Zealand. This new body will have 50% less funding, per head, for administration than before. This means that one of the priorities of Brent LMC will be to ensure that GPs are able to make their voice heard and have mechanisms to escalate issues and/or concerns.
NWL LMC Updates
Pan NWL updates can be found in the monthly updates here.
LMC Engagement – What’s the best way to contact you?
Brent LMC is currently in the process of reaching out to all GP’s to better connect with you all in Brent. It plans to host a virtual drop in session so please do look out for invites to this. If you have any other ideas on how you would like to engage with the committee then please do let us know.
