GPC regional representative elections 2024

  • Latest news

The seat covering North Central London and parts of inner-North West has gone to a ballot between two candidates.

Voting is open for the election of General Practitioners Committee (GPC) regional representatives for 2024-2027 for the seat covering Enfield and Haringey/Camden and Islington/ Barnet/Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster. Dr Lisa Harrod-Rothwell (an incumbent GPC rep) and Dr Krishan Aggarwal are contesting the seat.

The seat covering Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth/Kingston and Richmond was also up for election, with Dr Richard Van Mellaerts re-standing unopposed.

To be eligible to stand or vote in a constituency, you must be a BMA member and be one of the following:

  • a GP engaged exclusively or predominantly in providing personally or performing NHS primary medical services for a minimum of 52 sessions distributed evenly over six months in the year immediately before election.
  • a GP on the doctors’ retainer scheme.
  • a medically qualified LMC secretary.

Please note that at the December 2023 GPCUK meeting, members voted to proceed with the proposed GPCUK reforms, which if passed through BMA approval processes, will impact GPCUK membership. However, should these reforms go through at the start of the 2024/25 session, elected members will continue to hold a seat on GPC for their respective nation for the remainder of their term.

  • Voting will take place for contested seats from 12pm Tuesday 5 March 2024 – 12pm Tuesday 26 March 2024.
