Dear colleague,
It was good to see so many of you at the PLT event! We hope that meeting again in-person will make us more identifiable and more approachable. We spent some of our December meeting discussing how we engage with our colleagues in general practice across Lambeth, and we would be grateful if you would let us know the most efficient way(s) of reaching you. We are open to any method of communication and would appreciate your feedback regarding the methods we could adopt. These could include (but are not limited to):
Lambeth LMC Membership and Contact info
- Local Newsletters
- Social media (utilising established channels)
- Local Practice visits
- Attending meetings/events
- Clinical group meetings
- PCN meetings
- PLTs
- PM forums
- Email alerts
- Regular drop in sessions
- All/some of the above
In addition to the above we would be grateful if you could let us know how regularly you wish to be updated, we are aware that practices receive multiple communications throughout your working week, so we do not wish to over burden you, but are keen to keep you as up to date as possible with the work that the LMC is carrying out on your behalf. If you want to provide feedback regarding the above questions, please contact David.Moore@lmc.org.uk and we will feed this into our communications plan.
The formal parts of our meeting this month were again much concerned with local schemes and contracts. The Public Health commissioners at Lambeth Council plan to procure LARC and NHS Health Checks on 4-year contacts. It is clearly important that we get these right, and we have arranged meetings with them to go through the issues in greater detail than is possible in a general meeting.
We have had many meetings with the ICB commissioners about the details of our local schemes in the last 18 months, and they are getting near the point when they will be able to be shared more widely. The plan is to present them at the “Strengthening General Practice” conference which will be on 20th Jan 2026 12.30-5pm at Brixton House.
Both Public Health and SELICB are experiencing significant financial pressures, so practices and PCNs are encouraged to submit invoices and claims at the soonest opportunity. Late claims may be at risk of non-payment.
Regarding the national contract changes on 1/10/25, we were happy to learn that no breach notices have been issued in Lambeth.
As with all ICBs, our SEL ICB is undergoing restructuring and losing staff. This is at the same time as we are supposed to be developing neighbourhoods and INT. It is unsettling for everyone. We hope that the formation of the Lambeth GP Provider Alliance (LGPPA) to be the GP voice in the Lambeth integrator, will help to assure the GP voice continues to be heard. Lambeth LMC are supporting this work.
Please do get in touch if you have questions or concerns – David.Moore@lmc.org.uk. I hope you manage to spend some time with family and friends over the holiday season.
Yours Faithfully,
Dr Penelope Jarrett
Chair
Lambeth LMC
