We have recently gathered together all the training that we can offer in a single brochure, built up in more than a decade of supporting practices’ learning and development needs. It lists over 40 different pieces of training that can be bought by training hubs, commissioners, practices and anyone else who has a group of people who would benefit from the learning on offer.
Recent additions to our Learning, Education and Development (LEAD) programme include complaint handling and medical chaperoning which are detailed below. Infection prevention control leads training and Asthma & COPD will have dates added to our website closer to the time.
Fully funded operations manager apprenticeship

Londonwide LMCs would like to introduce a unique opportunity to our practices in the form of a fully funded Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship. The 15-month generic management apprenticeship is provided by Cherith Simmons and accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). Apprentices will attend 16 live online trainer led workshops as well as completing an end point assessment. It is suitable for aspiring, new and experienced practice managers who are looking to gain new skills and knowledge whilst gaining a recognised qualification.
Londonwide LMCs are partnering with Cherith Simmons, who are rated “Good” by Ofsted, in helping to make the apprenticeship more general practice focused by incorporating our practice finance taught day and granting apprentices access to our 11 online modules from our General Practice Management (GPM) Training Programme at no extra cost to the apprentice/practice. It also includes our practice finance session,which is unique to the Londonwide LMCs offer.

Londonwide LMCs’ full General Practice Management (GPM) Training Programme remains available separately as this is a tailored general practice management course that takes place over the span of a year. The course is aimed at aspiring and new practice managers and provides a good foundation of the skills and knowledge needed to enable delegates to be able to undertake their role effectively. Londonwide LMC’s GPM course is unique in that it is written and delivered by experienced practice managers. It is worth contacting your local training hub or ICB to see if they have any funding available to help support you in accessing training.
Medical chaperoning
This interactive half day workshop is aimed at all clinical and non-clinical staff who may be required to act as a chaperone or to make use of chaperones. It runs on the afternoon of Wednesday 26 March.
The workshop meets the training recommendations outlined in the Model Chaperone Framework – Guidance on the role and effective use of chaperones in primary and community care settings (NHS Clinical Governance Support Team 2005). All aspects of chaperoning are covered in this workshop, including patients’ rights, consent, raising concerns, the roles and responsibilities of a chaperone and also the responsibilities regarding chaperones for those conducting intimate examinations.
Complaint handling
Having an effective processes that complies with requirements around complaints handling is important in keeping the associated workload and stress to a manageable level. The course will provide an overview of the NHS complaints regulations and CQC requirements.
This two and half hour course will examine the following areas:
- what does an effective practice complaints policy consist of
- receiving, recognising and investigating a complaint
- the purpose of the NHS complaints regulations; undertaking a complaint investigation
- CQC regulations for receiving and acting on complaints
- the importance of maintaining a complaint record.
