Covid-19 advice to practices

Current guidance to practices is that they should isolate patients who report symptoms of coronavirus and get them to call NHS 111, who will arrange testing and transport as required.

2020/21 GP Contract

Details of the new GP Contract have been announced, along with revisions to the proposed PCN DES service specifications, which created so much debate in January.

Special Conference of England LMCs

On 11 March your LMC representatives will gather to debate this year’s GP Contract and vote on motions relating to it, with particular emphasis on the PCN DES.

NHS guidance on ceasing use of fax machines

The GP Contract states that practices should stop using fax machines for NHS and patient communications by April 2020. NHS guidance for practices is now available.

LMC elections

Any GP working in one of the 27 London boroughs we represent may be nominated for election regardless of their contractual status. This is your chance to make your voice heard.

Training and development opportunities for the year ahead

We have a wide range of exciting professional development opportunities for practice managers in 2020, as part of our Practice Manager Development project. The courses and workshops have fully funded places available.

Also this month...

Committee liaison executive roles available

We are recruiting two committee liaison executives to work as part of a team who support LMC members and our wider constituents from our offices in Euston. The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 10 March.

Remember to use BEAM to LMC to highlight the pressure you are under

Our BEAM to LMC mobile app, which enables you to tell us about the pressures you are under from commissioners and others, is proving popular. Make sure you check the app for push notifications.

Media and public affairs round-up

On 7 February Dr Michelle Drage, our CEO, took part in Women in Healthcare Leadership’s 100 Word Project. On 29 January Dr Elliott Singer, our Medical Director for North East London, was quoted in a Pulse article on challenges around making referrals from GP hubs. On 23 January Michelle was quoted in a GPonline article covering the results of our survey of GPs' views on the proposed PCN DES service specifications.

We continue to be very active in promoting the interests of London GPs and practice staff on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. If you have an example of general practice doing something well which could make a news story please get in touch. We also support practices that are approached with media requests. You can find details here.
