Dear colleague,
We are pleased to present our latest newsletter, which highlights the recent work and collaborative efforts between Harrow LMC and Londonwide LMCs along with other local stakeholders. We understand the pressures under which you and your team are working.
Harrow LMC Membership and Contact info
Note: following this summer’s LMC elections the new membership of the LMC will take up their posts for the 2025-28 LMC term on 1 September. Most of us are returning, but I would like to thank Dr Azeem Nizamuddin for his service as he steps down and to welcome Dr Mandana Emami as a newly elected member.
Harrow Primary Care Networks & Harrow LMC Primary Care Provider Collaborative GP Workshop
We would like to invite you to a GP workshop on Thursday 25 September at 18:30, at Harrow Baptist Church to discuss the North West London Primary Care Provider Collaborative and what this means for Harrow and North West London. It will be a chance to showcase what we know so far and to discuss what is important to Harrow GPs in this changing landscape. You should have received an invite for this event but if you have not and would like more information or to attend please contact amy.honor@lmc.org.uk.
What has Harrow LMC been working on recently?
ADHD Services
The LMC has raised concerns over shared care pathways and new ADHD provisions. Along with NWL LMCs it has been meeting with a number of stakeholders to continue to raise our concerns. There is now a piece of work that NWL ICB are taking forward and we will share these once we have updates.
We are aware of examples where there is no Shared Care agreement, or where Shared Care is not Shared Care due to patients being discharged, with the ask for GPs to prescribe medication. Please be aware of this pattern, and exercise judgement when deciding whether recommendations from other providers fall within your remit and within your competence. This work is NOT mandatory. More guidance on Shared Care pathways can be found here.
Primary/secondary and primary/community care interfaces
The LMC have drafted a Service Alert form which committee member practices are trialling presently. Once the trial is complete we hope to share this template with you to allow all GPs and practices within Harrow to be able to use this on pushing back on inappropriate work. We have also written to Northwick Park Hospital regarding the lack of clear points of contact on letters, which other trusts are now doing. The committee are also aware of the number of rejected referrals which are currently taking place mainly with community services. We are currently investigating these to be able to raise our concerns. The committee also attend several interface meetings including ones with secondary care interfacing trusts and NWL ICB.
