The rollout of Pharmacy First is scheduled to conclude at the end of January, with all services going live at signed-up pharmacies.

Pharmacy First was announced as part of NHS England’s Access Recovery Plan, the elements of it will come into effect on 31 January. The aims are to encourage patients to seek care from pharmacists for seven common conditions:

  • sinusitis,
  • sore throat,
  • earache,
  • infected insect bite,
  • impetigo,
  • shingles, and
  • uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.

Local Pharmaceutical Committees perform a similar function to LMCs and the Pharmacy London are the umbrella body representing them across London. Pharmacy London has produced a briefing for LMCs ahead of the rollout of Pharmacy First at the end of January.
