Hillingdon LMC newsletter – August 2025

  • Local LMC newsletters

Covering: ADHD services, interface, drop in session and more.

Dear colleague,

We are pleased to present our latest newsletter, which highlights the recent work and collaborative efforts Hillingdon LMC and Londonwide LMCs along with other local stakeholders. We understand the pressures under which you and your team are working.

Elections across the Londonwide LMCs area were completed on Tuesday 22 July and the election results, including our committee, can be seen here. The new term starts on 1 September 2025, so at this date the membership of our LMC will officially change. Our Chair(s) for the 2025-28 LMC term will be elected when the new membership of the committee meets for the first time in the autumn, until then our existing one will remain in post.

Londonwide Local Medical Committees – Constituent Survey

We have instigated an organisational stocktake and are seeking feedback from you and your practice teams to better understand your needs and priorities for our services going forwards.

The survey will remain open until 15 August 2025.

All responses will be anonymous unless you choose to actively identify yourself within your free text response/s. Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this survey. A short summary of our role and how we support practices is available if it would assist you in responding.

What has Hillingdon LMC been working on recently?

ADHD Services
The LMC has raised concerns over shared care pathways and new ADHD provisions. Along with NWL LMCs it has been meeting with a number of stakeholders to continue to raise our concerns. There is now a piece of work that NWL ICB are taking forward and we will share these once we have updates.

We are aware of examples where there is no Shared Care agreement, or where Shared Care is not Shared Care due to patients being discharged, with the ask for GPs to prescribe medication. Please be aware of this pattern, and exercise judgement when deciding whether recommendations from other providers fall within your remit and within your competence. This work is NOT mandatory. More guidance on Shared Care pathways can be found here.

Primary/Secondary Care Interface
Work continues to push back on all the inappropriate workload dumping which is taking place. Representatives attend several interface meetings including ones with interfacing trusts and NWL ICB.

The committee are aware there have been an increase in requests from hospitals for practices to perform unfunded or inappropriate work. This includes the administering of Zoladex, Prostap and Denosumab. Along with other requests such as pre-operative tests and prescribing specialised medication without a shared care agreement. Your practice does not have to accept inappropriate requests. Please see the different template letters which can be used to reject this work using the template letter here. There are also a number of useful template letters available here which practices can use.

After a great deal of work the LMC are pleased to announce that The Hillingdon Hospital now has appointed a Primary Care Liaison Officer who is Becky Farren, General Manager for Patient Access and Outpatients, and can be contacted on thh-tr.bookingcentre@nhs.net. This is for GP related queries and feedback. Patients should still contact PALS where appropriate.

Hillingdon LMC drop in session
We held a virtual drop in session for constituents to attend on Thursday 26 June 2025. It was a great opportunity to meet with constituent GPs and share what the LMC are working on and on the ground experiences. In the new term of office we will be holding more of these sessions so please look out for further dates in the near future.

NWL LMC Updates
Pan NWL updates can be found in the monthly updates. Here is the latest Londonwide LMCs.
