Surviving the 2026-27 GP contract – webinar recording
A recording of the first run of Londonwide LMCs’ webinar is now available on the 2026-27 GP contract guidance page.
Find out about the effect on London of the contract changes, with our unique patient population and commissioning arrangements, based on the documentation available at the end of April.
Dr Lisa Harrod-Rothwell’s first year as Londonwide LMCs’ CEO
Since taking up the post in May 2025, Lisa has worked on the priorities that matter to London’s GPs and practice teams.
This work includes highlighting the challenges created by online access requirements. In this new video, designed to help inform patients, Lisa explains how expanding patients’ options to access the same finite capacity in general practice creates tension and diverts GPs from seeing those most in need.
North Central London LMCs’ interface work held up as example for LMCs across the UK
At the 2026 UK LMC Conference, held in Belfast from 13-15 May, representatives from LMCs in North Central London were invited to give a presentation on how they drew-up and agreed a consensus document on the interface between primary and secondary care for their ICB area.

Dr Toni Hazell, Chair, Haringey LMC speaks to the conference attendees.
Dr Toni Hazell, Chair of Haringey LMC, Dr Farzana Vanat, Co-Chair of Barnet LMC, and Dr Pippa Vincent, Co-Chair of Enfield LMC took over a year of careful negotiation and the implementation is still ongoing. This work represents a substantial step forward in numerous areas and Londonwide LMCs want to congratulate Toni, Farzana and Pippa on their work.
Their presentation is available on our website and is designed to work as a stand-alone document for other areas interested in replicating the NCL approach.
GPC England key updates
Provider Selection Regime (PSR) – what GP practices need to know
Our new guidance helps practices to navigate the NHS’s legal framework for choosing who provides most healthcare services. PSR sets out a small number of permitted ‘routes’ a commissioner can use to award, renew or change a contract.
Services delivered by GP practices are funded via contracts that are in scope of PSR, for example core GMS/ PMS/ APMS, locally commissioned services / local incentive schemes and enhanced services where they are run locally.
New in-person training: leases, lease renewals and rent reviews
Improve your abilities to deal with, and knowledge of the operation of, rent reviews and important terms which carry financial and operational risk to practices and lease fundamentals. This includes commercial rent review procedures, the effect of the Premises Costs Directions 2024 and how certain terms can impact practices financially and operationally.
The training is running on the afternoon of Wednesday, 8 July in our offices near Euston and available to practices from any area.
International Nurses Day 2026: recognising one of London’s award winning nursing teams

Gill Rogers, one of the nursing judges and the team of Springfield Park PCN.
For IND on 12 May we shared details of Springfield Park PCN, winners of the London General Practice Nursing Team Award. They were recognised for their response to a measles outbreak, in particular how they worked with the community affected to co-design a vaccination catch-up campaign.
Community Pharmacy and General Practice conference: opportunity to showcase collaborative work
Community Pharmacy is inviting submissions for case studies that highlight successful collaboration between local GP practices and community pharmacies, demonstrating real impact for patients.
Selected examples will be showcased at the Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference (21–22 June, Birmingham) in the dedicated Hall of Heroes Networking Zone. Chosen case studies will be turned into posters, with some teams invited to present lightning talks and take part in networking and implementation discussions.
All accepted case studies will be published on the conference website and potentially featured in a post-event report. Submit your case study by 28 May.

Are you covered? Understanding the limits of state-backed indemnity
Why MDO cover is necessary to avoid exposure to significant legal risk, assist in any regulatory action and cover certain clinical tasks that the Clinical Negligence Scheme for General Practice (CNSGP) does not.
Media and public affairs round-up
This month we provided updates to journalists on ICB neighbourhood plans, changes to funding in the 2026/27 GP contract, fielded enquiries about single point of access, INTs, locally commissioned services and election candidates, and prepared for further meetings between LMC representatives and MPs.
We continue to promote the interests of London GPs and practice staff on X (Twitter), Facebook and LinkedIn. If you have an example of general practice doing something well which could make a news story please get in touch. We also support practices that are approached with media requests. You can find details here.
